💻️ Hackers Used AI for Mass Exploitation
Google disclosed that cybercriminals used an AI-generated zero-day exploit in a real-world attack for the first time, targeting a popular open-source administration tool with a Python script that bypassed two-factor authentication.
Google’s Threat Intelligence Group said the code showed strong signs of LLM generation, including structured formatting, excessive comments, and even a fake CVSS score, suggesting AI was used to discover and weaponize the flaw.
The report also highlighted PromptSpy, an Android malware that abuses Gemini AI to monitor user activity, replay biometric authentication, and prevent uninstallation. Google further identified threat groups from China, North Korea, and Russia using AI tools for vulnerability research, malware development, reconnaissance, and large-scale abuse of premium AI services.
The company warned that AI is rapidly accelerating cyberattacks while also creating new risks for AI systems and infrastructure themselves.
