🔥 What’s Hot in AI News:

Apple delays upgraded Siri: it’s taking ‘longer than we thought’

Apple has announced a delay in its rollout of more personalized Siri features, initially expected this spring. A company spokesperson stated that while recent Siri improvements—such as ChatGPT integration and enhanced product knowledge—have been introduced, the development of AI-driven personal context awareness and app actions is taking longer than expected. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that internal concerns about the features’ functionality may lead to a complete rebuild, with a fully modernized Siri possibly not arriving until iOS 20. Apple has yet to clarify the exact timeline for these updates.

Gmail gains an ‘Add to calendar’ button, powered by Gemini

Google has rolled out a new Gemini AI-powered feature for Gmail, allowing Google Workspace users to seamlessly add events to Google Calendar directly from emails. The AI detects calendar-related content and presents an “Add to calendar” button, which opens a side panel for confirmation. Currently available only in English and on the web, this feature does not include other guests in events and won’t appear for emails with pre-extracted reservations. It is accessible to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise users, as well as those with Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium plans. Admins can enable it through the Workspace Admin console under smart features and personalization.

Microsoft appears to be working on 3D gaming experiences for Copilot

Microsoft is exploring 3D gaming experiences for Copilot, its AI-powered chatbot, according to a new job listing. The company is hiring a 3D rendering expert to work with gaming engines like Babylon.js, three.js, and Unity. Microsoft has previously showcased Muse, an AI model trained on Bleeding Edge, capable of generating interactive gameplay. The company also plans to integrate Copilot into games like Minecraft, assisting players with in-game tasks. Additionally, Microsoft is experimenting with animated, character-based AI interactions to enhance user engagement.

WhatsApp To Roll Out New Meta AI Features With Widgets And AI-Generated Group Icons

WhatsApp is expanding its Meta AI integration with two new beta features: an AI-powered widget for quick chatbot access and AI-generated group icons. The AI widget allows users to interact with the chatbot directly from their home screen, supporting text queries, voice mode, and image uploads for AI analysis. Meanwhile, the AI-generated group icons let users create unique group pictures by simply entering a description. Currently available to select Android beta testers, these features are powered by Meta’s Llama AI model, offering functions similar to ChatGPT and Google Gemini. These updates reflect Meta’s ongoing push to integrate AI into WhatsApp, despite some controversy.
