🔥 What’s Hot in AI News:

DuckDuckGo now lets you hide AI-generated images in search results

DuckDuckGo has launched a new feature that lets users filter out AI-generated images from search results, responding to feedback from users who said these images often clutter their searches. When using the Images tab on DuckDuckGo, users will now see a drop-down menu labeled “AI images,” where they can choose to show or hide AI-generated content. There’s also an option in the settings called “Hide AI-Generated Images” for a more permanent filter. The feature works using curated open-source blocklists like those from uBlockOrigin, though it may not block all AI images. DuckDuckGo says this move is aimed at helping users find more relevant, real-world results and plans to introduce more filtering options soon.

Perplexity Wants to Add Its Comet AI Browser to Smartphones

AI company Perplexity is in talks with mobile phone makers like Samsung and Motorola to preinstall its Comet browser, aiming to boost user adoption by replacing default browsers like Chrome. Currently in beta on desktop, Comet uses AI to help users interact with personal data and perform tasks like scheduling. CEO Aravind Srinivas says the goal is to reach millions of users by 2026. This move reflects a broader trend toward agentic AI browsers that automate tasks with minimal input. As AI-driven search grows, traditional SEO is becoming less effective for small businesses, pushing them to adapt to new discovery methods.

Elon Musk Surprises with ‘Baby Grok’ — Safe AI Just for Kids

Elon Musk has announced a new version of his Grok AI chatbot called ‘Baby Grok,’ made especially for kids. This is a big change from the first version of Grok, which had more adult content and received a lot of criticism. Even though we don’t know much about how Baby Grok will work yet, many people think this update is not a new idea but a way to fix the problems caused by the original Grok. Some are asking if Musk is really changing direction or just trying to avoid more backlash.

Microsoft looks to boost AI performance in European languages

Starting in September, Microsoft will open research units in Strasbourg, France, to help expand AI training data in at least 10 EU languages, including Estonian and Greek. The initiative involves digitizing books and recording hundreds of hours of audio to support multilingual AI development. Microsoft says the data will be open-source and publicly accessible, not owned by the company. President Brad Smith emphasized that without more diverse language data, AI models may push people toward using English, threatening cultural and linguistic diversity. The move also aligns with Europe's push for tech sovereignty and reduced reliance on U.S. firms.
