šŸ”„ What’s Really Happening in AI Right Now:

OpenAI’s New AI Hiring Platform Takes Aim at LinkedIn

OpenAI is building an AI-focused jobs platform to connect employers with AI-skilled workers, a move that could rival Microsoft’s LinkedIn despite Microsoft being its $13B backer. Announced by applications CEO Fidji Simo, the platform will serve not only large companies but also local businesses and governments seeking AI talent, with a launch expected by mid-2026. OpenAI is also expanding its Academy with certification programs that let workers train through ChatGPT and earn trusted credentials—putting it in direct competition with LinkedIn Learning.

DeepSeek to Launch AI Agent in 2025 to Rival OpenAI

China’s DeepSeek is working on a new artificial intelligence model that acts as an advanced AI agent, capable of handling complex, multi-step tasks with little guidance from users and learning from its past actions to improve over time. The Hangzhou-based startup, founded by Liang Wenfeng, is pushing to release the software in the final quarter of this year. The move positions DeepSeek as a direct challenger to US rivals like OpenAI, as global competition heats up around building more autonomous AI systems seen as the next major leap in artificial intelligence.

Apple’s AI Search Plans Could Put Google Behind Siri

Apple is working on an AI-powered search feature for Siri, codenamed ā€œWorld Knowledge Answers,ā€ that can pull info from the web and generate summaries with text, photos, videos, and points of interest. To power it, Apple is testing Google’s Gemini model and may also evaluate Anthropic’s Claude, though it plans to use its own AI for searching personal data. The upgraded Siri, expected in iOS 26.4 next March, will use a planner, search system, and summarizer to deliver smarter answers and actions.

Google Photos upgrades its image-to-video feature with Veo 3

Google is rolling out its new AI video-generation model, Veo 3, to Google Photos, letting U.S. users turn still images into high-quality video clips through the app’s new Create hub. Alongside Veo 3, the hub also offers AI-powered creative tools like photo remixes, collages, montages, cinematic 3D photos, and GIFs. With over 1.5 billion monthly active users, the update highlights Google’s push to bring its latest AI tech directly into everyday consumer apps.
