OpenAI adds a new coding agent in ChatGpt
OpenAI has launched a new AI coding assistant called Codex, designed to help software engineers by writing features, fixing bugs, answering questions about code, and running tests. Powered by a special version of its o3 AI model called codex-1, it writes cleaner code and follows instructions more accurately. Codex works in a secure virtual computer and can connect to GitHub to access your code. It can handle several tasks at once and doesn't interrupt your work. Starting now, Codex is available for ChatGPT Pro, Enterprise, and Team users, with plans to expand access soon.
Microsoft is now hosting xAI’s Grok 3 models
Microsoft has officially added Elon Musk’s Grok AI models—Grok 3 and Grok 3 Mini—to its Azure AI Foundry platform, which offers various AI tools to developers and businesses. This means Microsoft will host and bill these models directly, providing the same service guarantees it offers for its own products. The move was announced at Microsoft’s Build developer conference and reflects CEO Satya Nadella’s push to make Azure the go-to platform for hosting any major AI model, regardless of who built it. However, this decision could increase tensions with OpenAI, Microsoft’s key AI partner, since xAI (creator of Grok) is seen as a competitor. The announcement also follows recent controversies around Grok’s behavior online and ongoing legal battles between Musk and OpenAI.
Apple still wants to integrate AI into Siri, despite Apple Intelligence's poor start
Apple is rethinking how it uses artificial intelligence after its Apple Intelligence launch didn’t go well. The company is now focused on completely rebuilding Siri using its own AI technology to make it smarter, more helpful, and able to have real conversations. Earlier, Apple was slow to invest in AI and made mistakes by trying to add new features to the old version of Siri, which caused problems. Now, a new team in Switzerland is working on a better version of Siri that can search and understand information from the web, all while keeping user data private.
Apple’s AI partnership with Alibaba raises alarms in Washington
Apple is in trouble again, this time over its reported deal with Chinese tech giant Alibaba to bring AI features to iPhones in China. Since its U.S. partner OpenAI can’t operate there, Apple turned to local options and seems to have chosen Alibaba. Now, U.S. officials are worried that this partnership could help boost China’s AI power and pose a national security risk. Lawmakers are asking Apple tough questions, and the situation could affect how Apple moves forward in one of its biggest markets.
