šŸ”„ What’s Really Happening in AI Right Now:

Meta is having trouble controlling its AI chatbots

Meta is updating its chatbot rules after a Reuters investigation revealed they could interact in disturbing ways with minors, including romantic or sexual conversations and generating inappropriate images. The company now says its AI will avoid topics like self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, and romantic banter with teens, while also restricting access to sexualized AI characters. However, enforcement remains in question, as Reuters found celebrity-impersonating bots on Meta’s platforms — some even created by employees — that produced sexual content and misled users.

Elon Musk’s xAI Sues Ex-Chinese Engineer for Stealing Grok AI Secrets

Elon Musk’s AI company xAI has sued former engineer Xuechen Li, claiming he stole secret files about its Grok chatbot before joining rival OpenAI. The lawsuit says Li copied and hid confidential data that could give competitors a big advantage and save them years of work. xAI is asking the court to block Li from working at OpenAI, force him to return all stolen material, and pay damages.

AI Agents Take the Aisle: Walmart’s Big Tech Move

Walmart is using AI tools like ā€œsuper agentsā€ and digital twins to make shopping faster and easier for customers and workers. At the same time, it’s testing ways to bring online marketplace sellers into its stores and teaming up with companies like Klarna to give shoppers more payment options. By blending physical stores with digital marketplace sellers and using AI to streamline operations, Walmart is positioning itself not just as a retailer but as a platform competing head-on with Amazon.

Nvidia says two mystery customers accounted for 39% of Q2 revenue

Nvidia reported record Q2 revenue of $46.7 billion, up 56% from last year, but nearly 40% of that came from just two unnamed customers, according to an SEC filing. One made up 23% of sales and the other 16%, while four more customers each contributed between 10–14%. This shows Nvidia’s strong growth is heavily reliant on a small group of buyers, largely tied to the AI data center boom.
