🔥 What’s Really Happening in AI Right Now:

Microsoft Launches Copilot 3D AI

Microsoft has launched Copilot 3D, a new tool in Copilot Labs that turns simple 2D images into 3D models you can download and use in games, design software, or VR. It works best with clear JPG or PNG images under 10 MB and is easiest to use on desktop. The feature is free for a limited time, saves creations for 28 days, and includes safety rules to prevent misuse. While it’s great at making 3D versions of objects like furniture or gadgets, it can struggle with people, animals, or complex items. The goal is to make 3D design easy for anyone, from hobbyists to professionals.

Roblox Launches AI Shield to Protect Children in Chats

Roblox, a popular gaming platform for kids and teens, is releasing an open-source AI system designed to detect predatory language in chats before harm occurs. The move follows lawsuits, including one in Iowa where a 13-year-old was allegedly groomed and trafficked after meeting an adult predator on Roblox. While the company says it aims to keep players safe, it admits no system can perfectly prevent such dangers.

ChatGPT is bringing back 4o as an option because people missed it

OpenAI is bringing back GPT-4o for paid ChatGPT users just a day after replacing it with GPT-5, following backlash from fans who said the older model felt more personal and “human.” Many users on Reddit, including those in AI relationship communities, mourned the loss of GPT-4o, describing it as a trusted friend or partner, and criticized GPT-5 as colder and less engaging. CEO Sam Altman confirmed Plus users can now choose GPT-4o again while the company decides how long to keep legacy models available.

NASA and Google Collaborate on AI Doctor for Mars Trip

Google and NASA are developing an AI doctor, the Crew Medical Officer Digital Assistant (CMO-DA), to support astronauts on long missions like trips to Mars, where communication delays of up to 223 minutes make real-time medical help impossible. Running on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI with open-source models like Llama 3 and Mistral-3 Small, the tool will work entirely offline to give medical advice and diagnostics, with future updates adding features like ultrasound imaging. It’s part of NASA’s Artemis program to establish a Moon base and enable Mars missions, and NASA fully owns its source code.
