🔥 What’s Hot in AI News:
Adobe releases new Firefly image generation models and a redesigned Firefly web app
Adobe has launched the latest version of its Firefly AI tools, including Image Model 4, which improves on speed, quality, and control. Users can now adjust the structure, style, camera angles, and zoom of generated images, with resolutions up to 2K. There's also an upgraded version, Image Model 4 Ultra, designed to handle highly detailed scenes with small structures. The Firefly web app has been redesigned to house Adobe's AI models and includes some tools from other companies. A mobile app for Firefly is also in development. Adobe trained these models using advanced computing power, enabling better image details and more accurate text generation within images. Additionally, users can upload an image to guide the model in creating pictures in a specific style.
OpenAI introduces lightweight version of Deep Research tool: What is new
OpenAI is introducing a lighter version of its Deep Research tool, which will provide shorter but still high-quality responses. This new version is powered by the o4-mini reasoning model. OpenAI Pro subscribers will be able to make 250 queries per day, while Team, Plus, Enterprise, and Edu users will have 25 queries daily. Free users will be limited to five queries per day. By the end of next week, the tool will be available to Enterprise and educational users with the same usage limits as Team users.
Google’s AI Overviews now reach more than 1.5 billion people every month
Google says its AI Overviews in Search are now used by 1.5 billion people each month. This tool, launched last May, gives AI-generated answers to search questions and now includes ads. Despite some early problems, Google has added new features and expanded its AI tools, like making podcasts with AI and using Gemini AI in Maps. The company is also replacing Google Assistant with Gemini on phones and other devices. In early 2025, Google earned $90.2 billion and reached 270 million subscriptions, mainly from YouTube and Google One. But it’s also facing legal trouble in the U.S. for being too dominant in search and ads.
Perplexity's voice assistant is now available on iOS
Perplexity, an AI search engine backed by Nvidia and Jeff Bezos, has added a voice assistant to its iOS app. This means Apple users can now talk to the app instead of typing. With the voice assistant, you can do more than just search. You can book a table, call a ride, get directions, check your calendar, play music, or even send an email—all by speaking. To try it, open the Perplexity app on your iPhone and tap the microphone icon next to the search bar. You’ll be asked to allow microphone access, and then you can start talking to the assistant. Perplexity already launched this feature for Android earlier this year in 15 languages.
