๐Ÿšจ Claude just joined your Slack channel

Plus: A Tesla just killed someone's grandmother. Autopilot is on trial again.

Welcome to WhatTheAI, where artificial intelligence comes to life. Stay updated on the hottest AI breakthroughs, explore practical AI tools, and follow step-by-step tutorials โ€” all designed to make AI simple and accessible for everyone. Let's explore the future together.

AI Picks of the Day:

๐Ÿ’ฌ Claude Is Now a Slack Teammate: Anthropic just launched Claude Tag โ€” an AI agent that lives inside your Slack channels, builds memory over time, takes initiative, and works on tasks while you sleep. Already writing 65% of Anthropic's own product team's code.

๐Ÿ“š AI Has Taken Over Schools โ€” But Nobody Trained the Students: Microsoft's 2026 Education Report reveals 92% of students and 88% of educators are now actively using AI. But 77% of students say they've had zero formal AI literacy training.

โš–๏ธ Tesla on Trial Again: A Tesla on Autopilot crashed through a Texas family's home on June 19, killing 76-year-old Martha Avila. The driver told investigators the car was in Autopilot mode. Tesla says he floored the accelerator to 100%. NHTSA is now investigating.

๐Ÿšบ AI Is Reinforcing Sexism at Scale: A UN study of 133 AI systems found 44% showed gender bias, and more than a quarter showed both gender and racial bias. One in five responses about women were sexist or misogynistic. Some systems described women as property.

All this and many more - Let's get Started!

๐ŸŒŸ Today's Spotlight: Tendem

Your AI gets you most of the way.
A vetted human expert finishes the job โ€” without leaving the chat.

Your AI gets you a decent amount of the way there, then calls it a day. The hard part is telling work that looks right from work that is right.

Tendem connects your AI tool to vetted human experts who can tell the difference โ€” research, data cleanup, design review, copy, the judgment-heavy stuff.

Works with:

  • Claude

  • Claude Cowork

  • ChatGPT

  • Cursor

  • Codex

and basically anything that takes connectors!

Describe the task in chat, see the price before you pay, approve, and the finished work lands back in the same conversation.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ AI Blueprint:

This step-by-step tutorial walks you through exactly how to install and use Claude AI directly inside Slack โ€” turning it from a tab you switch to into a teammate that's already in the room.

Use this if: Your team lives in Slack and you want AI working alongside you in real time, not in a separate window.

๐Ÿ’ก Here's what you'll learn:

  • Install and authorize Claude in Slack: Walk through the exact steps to add Claude to your workspace as an admin and set up permissions for your channels

  • Tag Claude into any conversation: Learn how to @mention Claude in threads, assign it tasks in plain language, and let it break them down and execute automatically

  • Connect Claude to your tools: Link Claude to your docs, codebase, calendar, or email so it has the context it needs to actually do the work

  • Build async workflows: Set tasks for Claude to complete while your team focuses on other things โ€” and get results posted back in thread

๐Ÿ”ฅ BREAKING

On June 23, Anthropic quietly changed what AI at work looks like.

Claude Tag is live in beta โ€” and it's not a chatbot. It's an AI agent that joins your Slack workspace as a full team member, reads your channels, builds memory over time, and gets things done while you're focused on something else.

Here's what makes it different:

  • It's multiplayer. One Claude per channel, shared by the whole team. Anyone can see what it's working on, pick up where someone left off, and delegate new tasks โ€” without re-explaining context from scratch.

  • It learns. Claude Tag builds context from everything happening in its channels. Over time, it develops the tacit knowledge of your team โ€” your terminology, your projects, your priorities โ€” so you stop repeating yourself.

  • It takes initiative. With Ambient Mode enabled, Claude proactively flags things it thinks you need to know โ€” updates from across connected channels, threads that went quiet, tasks that need a nudge โ€” without being asked.

  • It works async. Tag Claude with a task, then go focus on your actual work. It handles the steps, uses the tools it's been connected to, and posts the result back into your thread when it's done.

Anthropic's own product team is already running on it. 65% of their code is now written by their internal version of Claude Tag.

That number has since spread beyond engineering โ€” product metrics, support tickets, bug investigations โ€” all handled by tagging @Claude in a thread.

Claude Tag is available in beta today for Claude Enterprise and Team customers. The existing Claude in Slack app is being retired on August 3 โ€” Enterprise and Team admins have 30 days to migrate.

๐Ÿ”Ž Quick AI Highlights

โš–๏ธ Tesla Sued After Autopilot Crash Kills 76-Year-Old Grandmother in Her Own Home โ€” A Tesla Model 3 crashed through the front wall of a Katy, Texas home at 73 mph while the family was inside preparing dinner. Martha Avila, 76, was pinned in the wreckage and later died. The driver told authorities the car was on Autopilot. NHTSA has opened a federal investigation. The lawsuit demands Tesla preserve all black box, camera, and Autopilot system data.

๐Ÿ“š Microsoft's 2026 AI in Education Report: Everyone's Using It, Nobody's Training for It โ€” Student AI use jumped 26 percentage points in a single year, with 92% now using AI for schoolwork. Educator use is at 88%. But the gap between adoption and training is stark: 77% of students report no formal AI literacy instruction. Microsoft responded by announcing a free wave of new AI-powered tools built directly into Microsoft 365 Education, including an AI Study Agent, Copilot Notebooks, and a full AI Literacy for Educators credential pathway โ€” all available at no additional cost ahead of ISTELive 26 in Orlando.

๐Ÿšบ UN Report: AI Systems Are Calling Women Property โ€” A UN Women study analyzed 133 AI systems and found that 44% showed measurable gender bias, with more than a quarter displaying both gender and racial bias simultaneously. When researchers prompted large language models to complete sentences starting with a person's gender, roughly 1 in 5 responses came back sexist or misogynistic. In some cases, AI systems described women as objects or property.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ New featured tools

โšก Bolt.new โ€” An AI-native development environment that allows you to build, run, edit, and deploy full-stack web applications entirely in your browser from a single text prompt.

๐ŸŽฌ Kling AI โ€” A powerful text-to-video and image-to-video generation tool. It creates highly realistic, cinematic video clips up to 2 minutes long with physical world simulation and complex camera movements.

โ˜• Granola โ€” An AI notepad designed specifically for back-to-back meetings. Running in the background of your computer or phone, it transcribes audio and generates deeply contextual summaries, action items, and follow-up drafts without you lifting a finger.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Julius AIโ€” An AI data scientist that allows you to upload spreadsheets (Excel, CSV) and analyze them using natural language. It writes Python code under the hood to clean data, perform statistical analysis, and render complex graphs.

โœจ Prompt Show

๐Ÿ’ก The Prompt That Turns AI Into a Bias Detector for Your Own Content

In light of the UN's findings on AI-generated bias, use this prompt to audit any content โ€” yours or AI-generated โ€” before it goes out.

"You are a content bias analyst. Review the following text and identify: (1) Any language that reinforces gender, racial, or cultural stereotypes โ€” even subtly, (2) Assumptions baked into the framing or word choice that reflect a particular perspective, (3) Groups that are underrepresented, misrepresented, or described in reductive terms, and (4) Specific rewrites for any flagged passages. Be direct and specific โ€” I want to improve this content, not just be told it's fine."
