🔥 What’s Hot in AI News:

Anthropic's Claude chatbot gets web search

Claude is rolling out a new web search feature that helps it provide up-to-date answers while citing sources. Unlike traditional search engines, it turns search results into conversational responses. This feature, currently available to paid users in the U.S. using Claude 3.7 Sonnet, is expected to expand to more users later. With AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude offering similar capabilities—including web search, coding tools, and visual editing—the competition between them is becoming increasingly close, with new features often launching across platforms within weeks.

OpenAI expands AI capabilities with new audio models for voice agents

OpenAI has introduced new speech-to-text and text-to-speech models in its API, setting a new benchmark for accuracy and reliability. These models excel in handling accents, background noise, and varying speech speeds, making them more effective than existing solutions. Designed for applications like customer call centers and meeting transcription, the improved models enhance transcription accuracy and enable more intelligent, customizable voice agents. This release marks a major step forward in AI-powered audio technology.

Apple faces lawsuit over Apple Intelligence delays

Apple has been sued in federal court over claims of false advertising related to its Apple Intelligence features. The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in San Jose, seeks class-action status and damages for consumers who purchased Apple Intelligence-capable devices but did not receive the promised AI features. Plaintiffs argue that Apple misled consumers by marketing advanced AI capabilities that were either significantly limited or entirely unavailable at launch. The complaint states that Apple’s advertisements created a “clear and reasonable consumer expectation” that these features would be accessible upon release. This legal action adds to Apple’s ongoing challenges in rolling out its AI-powered features. A Bloomberg report suggests internal tensions, with CEO Tim Cook reportedly losing confidence in AI head John Giannandrea’s ability to deliver on product development.

Meta AI finally comes to Europe after a year-long delay, but with some limitations

Meta has started rolling out its AI assistant, Meta AI, in 41 European countries and 21 overseas territories after delays due to data privacy rules. The launch was paused last year because European regulators blocked Meta from using Facebook and Instagram user data to train its AI. Now, Meta AI is available in six languages—English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and German—inside Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Users can ask questions, chat with the AI in groups, and find relevant content. Meta plans to expand its AI features in Europe to match what is available in the U.S.
