Google AI Mode can make interactive visualisations of financial data

Google is introducing a new feature in AI Mode (available in Labs) that lets you see interactive charts for stock and mutual fund questions. You can ask things like ā€œcompare the stock performance of top CPG companies in 2024,ā€ and the AI will gather and display the data in a clear, interactive graph with an explanation. It saves you the work of researching each stock manually and even understands follow-up questions like whether any company paid dividends. This tool uses advanced AI to understand your question and pull real-time and historical data to help you make better financial decisions.

Anthropic launches Claude Gov, an AI model tailored for intelligence and defense agencies

Anthropic has launched Claude Gov, a special version of its AI model made for U.S. government defense and intelligence agencies. This AI is built to work with classified information and better understand complex security-related content. Unlike regular versions, Claude Gov is more flexible with sensitive data and helps with tasks like threat analysis and intelligence work. It has already been adopted by top national security agencies, although Anthropic hasn’t said exactly which ones. This move puts Anthropic in direct competition with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Gov, which has already been widely used across the U.S. government.

Amazon is reportedly training humanoid robots to deliver packages

Amazon is developing AI-powered humanoid robots that could soon deliver packages right to your doorstep. These robots will ride in the back of Rivian electric vans, then hop out to complete deliveries. To train them, Amazon has built a special indoor testing area in San Francisco—about the size of a coffee shop—with obstacles and a real Rivian van. The company is testing different types of robots, including a $16,000 model from the Chinese company Unitree. This project is part of Amazon’s bigger plan to create robots that can understand natural language and do multiple tasks, not just one job. Amazon is already using robots in its warehouses and has been testing a humanoid robot called ā€œDigit.ā€ This move, along with its earlier purchase of robotaxi company Zoox, shows Amazon’s goal of fully automating delivery from warehouse to front door.

Perplexity Reports Queries Growing 20% Month Over Month

Perplexity’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, shared that the company is seeing strong growth, with 780 million searches handled in May and over 20% growth each month. If this continues, Perplexity could reach a billion searches per week by next year. A big part of this growth is expected to come from their upcoming web browser, which aims to offer a better experience than older browsers like Google Chrome. Srinivas explained that having users inside their own browser means they can offer search features everywhere—on the new tab page, sidebar, and even while browsing websites. This could lead to more searches per user and attract new users who are looking for something fresh and more modern than legacy browsers.
