🔥 What’s Hot in AI News:
Gemini CLI: your open-source AI agent
Google has introduced Gemini CLI, a free, open-source AI tool that brings the Gemini model directly into your terminal. It gives developers a fast and simple way to access AI using natural language — right from the command line. While it’s great at helping with code, it can also handle tasks like generating content, solving problems, doing research, and managing your work. Gemini CLI is integrated with Gemini Code Assist, so whether you're coding in the terminal or using VS Code, you get seamless, AI-powered support. It works with all plans — free, Standard, and Enterprise — making it easy for any developer to get started.
WhatsApp rolls out AI-generated summaries for private messages
WhatsApp is launching a new feature called Message Summaries to help you catch up on unread messages more easily. Whether you're busy after a flight, in back-to-back meetings, or just overwhelmed with chats, this feature uses Meta AI to give you a quick summary of what’s been said without needing to read every message. It uses a privacy-first technology called Private Processing, which means your messages and summaries stay completely private — not even WhatsApp or Meta can see them. No one else in the chat will know you used the summary feature either. Message Summaries are optional and turned off by default, so you stay in full control. You can also manage which chats use AI features through Advanced Chat Privacy settings.
YouTube adds an AI Overviews-like search results carousel
YouTube is launching new AI-powered features to help users find content more easily. One of them is an AI-generated search results carousel, now available to Premium users in the U.S. It shows a row of video suggestions with short AI-written summaries for topics like shopping, travel, or places to visit—for example, “best beaches in Hawaii.” This helps users quickly find useful videos without having to click through many results. However, some creators are worried that this might reduce their video views, since users could get what they need from the summaries alone. YouTube is also expanding access to its conversational AI tool, which can answer questions, suggest videos, and summarize content—especially useful for educational videos.
Anthropic now lets you make apps right from its Claude AI chatbot
Anthropic has introduced a new feature in its Claude AI chatbot that lets users build custom AI-powered apps directly within the Claude app. This upgrade, now in beta, builds on the Artifacts feature launched last year, which allowed users to view and interact with generated content. Now, users can simply describe what they want—like a game, writing tool, or data analysis app—and Claude will write and display the code in real time. The apps can also interact with Claude using an API, making it possible to create more advanced workflows. Users are encouraged to share their creations, and any API usage by others will be charged to their subscriptions, not the creator's. The feature is available on all Claude plans: Free, Pro, and Max.
